I notice recently that it is harder to stay focused and be productive. However, I managed to gather and integrate apps that help me to increase productivity and avoid distractions. In this post, I describe what I’m using and why.

There’s a lot of books and articles about prodictivity and how to fight with procastination. I have read some of them and encourage you to do that as well. Here, I list the apps that I am using that helps to follow the productivity techniques.

TODO List

Todo list is very usefull, write down small tasks. Every mornimng select which of them you woluld like to accomplish today. Very good is Trello but there are plenty of simillar apps.

Distractions

To help stay in focused turn off your phone, tv, radio. Disable any notifications that might interrupt your work. In addition to that, I am using a browser extension StayFocusd which blocks websites that I used to keep checking during the day.

Pomodoro Technique

Time management that consist with five steps:

  1. Choose task to be done
  2. Set a timer to 25 min.
  3. Work until timer rings.
  4. Take a short break ~ 5 min. After four pomodoros take a longer break: 15 min.
  5. Repeat.

There are a lot of tools that allowes provide that. For example: Pomello. This tool easily integrates with Trello. Provides statistics and the timer.

Recurring tasks

IFTTT good app for dealing with some recurrent task for example: bills/taxes. I really don’y need to remember to add them to my todo list evry time. IFTTT allows to schedule weeklt or monthly recurring trello tasks.

The most important part

The most important part of being productive is … you. There is no app that will make you productive but there are some that will help you achieve your goals.
